MEMBER OF THE IRS CENTRE – THANH TAY UNIVERSITY RECEIVED PUBLONS’ 2018 PEER REVIEW AWARDS

Recently, Dr. Hoang Quan Vuong – Director of The Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research (IRS) – Thanh Tay University was honorably awarded the Publons’ 2018 Peer Review Awards honoring reviewers, editors and research institutes that have distinguishing achievements and ceaseless contributions to the scientific peer reviewing in 2018.

Publons’ 2018 Peer Review Awards, running from September 10 to September 15, 2018, honored more than 6,000 experts from 100 countries and 2,000 organizations for tirelessly proving their unwavering commitment towards the quality and integrity of science.

The most longed-for category was the Award to reviewers who topped the 1% among reviewers in the 22 research fields of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) system and the 23rd field – Assorted – the combination of all other fields that fall out of the 22 fields of ESI.

The Publons’ Peer Review Awards 2018 was deservingly bestowed on Dr. Hoang Quan Vuong.

According to the statistics of SSHPA, there are 25 Vietnamese researchers that are ranked among the top 1% of the peer reviewers in the 23 research fields; however, only five among them are working in Vietnam; and Dr. Hoang Quan Vuong, Director of The Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research (IRS) – Thanh Tay University is one of them. Dr. Hoang Quan Vuong, with 34 reviews, ranked number 19th among those 25 mentioned Vietnamese researchers.

Some other notable representatives from Vietnam included young researcher Quan Minh Duong (Plotitecnico Di Milano and Da Nang University) who has been given the Top Reviewers Awards in two consecutive years in his field and in his university, Politecnico Di Milano. He has many articles on the Energies (JIF 2017: 2.676). Researcher Hung Xuan Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology), once ranked in the top 1% world’s most influential scientists in 2015, was named in the Top Reviewers by Publons’ in two consecutive years, in Engineering in 2017 and in Material Sciences in 2018.

To consolidate this data, Publons had accessed the database of Clarivate Web of Science and ScholarOne. The database was closed on September 1, 2018 and the data was exported from September 1, 2017 to September 1, 2018.

Other noble awards honored by Publons are: Top 10 Excellent Peer Review Winners; Top 10 Peer Reviewers for the Top Journals; Top 10 Handling Editors, Top Peer Reviewers who are new researchers.

The Publons’ Peer Review Awards 2018 was a place not only to honor the dedication to science of senior peer reviewers but also to encourage young researchers to assert themselves and to continue their contributions to science./.
